Work Place Moans

Healthandsafety

Health & safety, that “thing” that seems to annoy most people around the work place even though it’s there to help them!

When Ever hear people talking about the new laws and rules being brought into their work place regarding their health all I hear is moan, moan, and moan.  I think these people also forget if their company never had business health insurance they would be pretty screwed if an accident ever occurred!

What are your views on health and safety around the work place? Are you also tired of the same old nonsense that seems to come with it? Leave a comment and let us know.

Defence Standardisation for working with the MOD

When working closely with the Ministry of Defence in the UK, it is important for contractors to keep in line with certain standardised guidelines.

These are know as D-Stan [Defence Standardisation], and they allow a framework in which it easer for all concerned parties to co-operate in the smooth running of one of Great Britain's most productive industries.

Although lengthy the standards are exactly what has made many of the UK's largest contractors the world leading competitors in the industry that they are. This all comes as part of the working relationship that has developed over the years.

In order to get into this very fulfilling industry and to attain the high standards that it brings to all of your contracts it is helps to work in close harmony with other companies which have developed this as part of their overall defence contract provision. They are there to help both sides of the industry.

India to increase Defence Spending

For the next fiscal year India has allocated a staggering $30 billion [1.47 trillion rupees] for defence sector spending in the new budget announced last month [Feb 2010].

defence contractsThis comes as part of a major modernisation process to bring the Indian armed forces right up to 21st Century standards. The process includes procurement of new vehicles, fighter planes and small arms.

Among the companies expected to compete for these lucrative are the large Indian suppliers Tata Motors, Mahindra & Mahindra and Ashok. However the the Indian Government will open it up to competitive tender. And any major investment will have to come from a major global multi-national corporation.

Defence spending for the year up to March 2010 was nearly a third smaller at just over a trillion rupees, making india one of the world's largest spenders on defence, mainly fueled by animosity over China's increased spending directly to the north.

Roll out the Warthog

British Troops have started training with their brand new all terrain armoured Vehicle the Warthog, in advance of their deployment later in the year.

the warthog, british military's new all terrain transport, defense contract from singapore

The Warthog

The Warthog built by Singapore Technologies Kinetics [STK], is scheduled to be used on the ground in Afghanistan, and a contingent of Army soldiers are out there getting used to the vehicle with the view becoming instructors for the rest of the armed forces, just before deployment.

A Ministry of Defence Spokesman said :

"Warthog will be true to its name as a beast of a vehicle that can manoeuvre across difficult terrain, power-up steep gradients and even cling to slopes. Warthog will provide improved protection to our troops in Afghanistan's Green Zone, where water and a fragile infrastructure make it difficult for other vehicles to operate. It will be able to move through deep water while carrying troops at the heart of our operations."

Let's hope it lives up to its name
